Monday the boys colored/decorated/designed their Astronomy notebook covers then we read up about the sun and headed outside for an experiment involving magnifying glasses and pieces of chocolate. We were supposed to discover just how hot the sun is by melting the chocolate with the magnifying glasses but either our sun is not that hot in San Diego, or I need real magnifying glasses, not the cheap, plastic ones I bought for our Chore Store at the Dollar Tree. :D Also, because the focus of the project was these scrumptious-looking, sinfully tempting chocolate chunks, Bugga wasn't able to last long with the magnifying glass and probably no more than three minutes after we arrived in the backyard, he was sporting a stylish chocolate mustache.

Tuesday we started our new read aloud, Peter Pan. I'm torn, though. I'm thinking of setting this aside to read the Harry Potter books with the boys before the first installment of the seventh movie comes out in November. They have seen all six of the other movies and LOVE them and the books are just so much more detailed and engaging than the movies even. Ho hum. I don't know. I'll probably have to decide soon, though, if I'm going to make it through all seven before the movie debuts!

Wednesday we packed for our last-minute trip to Utah to visit Granny and Grandpa and Unkey Dino.

Thursday we went to Bounce California in the morning to check out a trampoline and tumbling class for the boys. This turned out to be awesome and I'm so excited for them to continue with it. We headed out for Utah straight from Bounce California and drove all the way to Mesquite without incident. My children are awesome travelers! When we got to the hotel in Mesquite, there was still quite a bit of daylight left and it was pretty hot so we grabbed the boys' life jackets and made a beeline for the pool. The Pipster enjoyed chillin' in his Bumbo poolside while his older brothers preferred the jacuzzi to the slightly-more-frigid waters of the pool. While in the jacuzzi, the boys noticed crickets crawling along the ground nearby so we had an impromptu lesson in observation. Apparently crickets like water but not heights, so they would dart to the edge of the jacuzzi and work their way around the circumference for a bit (I guess maybe to find a way down? I don't really know.) and then they'd give up and make way for one of their comrades to do the very same thing. They're persistent little buggers.  When we gave off watching the crickets' circuitous patterns, I hefted Baby Boy out of his Bumbo only to find a royal blow-out seeping up his entire back.  Beautiful.  We had to hoof it back to the hotel room, dripping wet, to change The Beebe, and then slip and slide our way back through our hazardous trail to the pool again.  Fun!

Friday we got up late, watched cartoons, jumped on the bed, tidied the hotel room, ate a rather pitiful hotel breakfast, then took off on the second leg of our trip. It was equally as uneventful as the first. The Pipster slept most of the way and when he'd get fussy about being cooped up in his car seat for too long, I'd just turn everything off (movies, music, and such) and crack the windows to bring the sound of the freeway roaring into our van. This would effectively quiet the baby as he just couldn't compete with the noise level, and he would fall right to sleep. We arrived in Provo, hopped out to share hugs and kisses, then hopped right back in to meet relatives at Cafe Rio. I love Cafe Rio. I miss Cafe Rio. The boys and I shared a veggie salad. So good. When bedtime rolled around we were more than happy to crawl under our blankets and drift happily off to sleep.

I love my family!!

You should listen to them on a road trip. You'll be done with all seven in no time. And the narrator is a genius.

Of course he does Peter Pan too.

I love how pip sticks his whole fist in his mouth. Jack does that too :)
