Cruise Research

I want to do a little research on cruises, but I've never been on one and I don't even know where to start. So, if you've been on a cruise, could you chime in please to let me know what your favorite cruise line is and why? And what your favorite cruising course was (i.e. Caribbean, Mediterranean, Alaskan, Scandinavian, etc.)? I remember a friend mentioning once that you want a cruise with the freedom to choose when you eat and who you eat with, but I can't remember what that is called and which cruise lines are like that. Help!

Aubree and I just got back from a cruise to Alaska (see our blog for pics). We've also been on a cruise to the Caribbean. We went on Princess both times and really enjoyed them both. Princess has the option of either doing traditional dining (where you eat with the same people at the same time every night) or anytime dining (where you can eat whenever you want). We've done anytime dining both times because its more flexible.

Give us a call sometime and we'll tell you more!

Ryan and I have both cruised with Princess and we really enjoyed it as well. For our honeymoon, we did a 7 day cruise in the Caribbean. Ryan has been on the Alaskan cruise, also with Princess, and he loved that too. We have not been on other cruiselines in order to compare. Good luck, let us know what you choose.

We went on a Western Caribbean cruise with Carnival and loved it. We don't have anything to compare it to, but either way we loved every minute. They assign you dining, and if you don't want to do that there is ALWAYS a buffet on deck with soft serve ice cream. There is always an activity to do, and the shore excursions on the Western Caribbean are awesome. Like I said though, I have nothing to compare it too. I've heard other lines are better, but I would definitely recommend the Carribean, but only if you like water.

Kid friendly is always better - Disney is great with that. Princess does well with 'higher end' stuff but Carnival is pretty safe and mainstream.

Have fun with whatever you decide!

Dad and I did the Princess cruise to the Mexican Riviera. The ship was wonderful and you could eat 24/7. The Mexican Riviera was boring. Do Alaska, the Carribean, or come with Dad and me (no, it is not Dad and I), on the Mediterranean cruise in 2010.

oo, Norwegian, all the way! Sumptuous, beautiful cruising. Freestyle. Fun. Big. And the best deals are on vacationstogo.com. That's where we got our deals- 2 weeks for only 600! That's lodging, food, and lots of different countries. Jarem didn't like the sailing days though. We don't gamble or drink, so there wasn't much to do on those days. You could get a cruise that doesn't have many sailing days. Enjoy researching!

Scott and I researched this once. If you're going with your family I would say a Disney cruise as that's what Scott and I were leaning to, since it's focused on family fun and keeping your kids entertained, and it's very safe.
